Pictures from Morocco trip. May 1999.

The following are a few of the pictures we took on our two week visit to Morocco.
Of the three months we spent in Europe and North Africa, these two weeks remain the most memorable and amazing.

Greg, Amy and Billy on a patio in Marakesh at the Hotel Essaouira

Brassworkers in Fez.

Outdoor market-There were flies all over this meat. Sick!

There were wild monkeys living in the forest above Azrou. They were happy to take food strait from Billy's hands.

Amy in the windy Essaouira with a sunken fortress

Vats of dye at the tannery

This is the toilet and the shower. You squat over the hole to do your business. The hole doubles as a drain for the cold shower.

Billy is following our guide through one of the many sections of the medina. These alleyways wind on for miles in all directions.

Thse kids kept messing with Amy and she couldn't do anything about it because she had henna on her hand.

Here is the beautiful brassworkers that the craftsman made with primitive tools and fire.

These are ruins with Fez below. The city stretches for miles but also every building is at least 5 stories high.

Skins are laid out to dry at the tannery.

Amy and Billy being served mint tea in the carpet sellers house as the workers rolled out carpet after carpet to tempt them.

These men are taking gas out of a moped to use in their generator. They rinsed the cup out and used it to serve tourists right after this.

Insane Marakesh at night.

Marakesh in the daylight. We only saw this one market area while we were there. This is the place for swindlers of all kinds who will demand money if you look at them. I'm not even exaggerating!

Upstairs bedroom in a very nice cave house.

Donkeys are very usefull here. People use them to carry all their goods to market.

Amy and Billy drink tea and watch satallite TV in Mustaffa's house, while he tries to sell us his art work and tells us about his problems with his 16 year old bride.

Mustaffa is helping Amy to pick out shoes in Sefrou.

Mourad Yaakobi is a wonderful person that we met in Morocco. He was extremely kind to us. Here he helps Amy to feed the wild monkeys.

On our hike out of Sefrou we ran into boys swimming in the dammed up creek. They were very camera shy though.

This waterfall was just a short hike from Sefrou. This was also Amy's first shower in days because she wouldn't take a shower over the squatter.

Amy and Mourad in Azrou. Azrou was a different world from Fez.

Billy feeding the monkeys. The monkey in the background has an infant clinging to her fur.

Amy swimming in the paradise called Oulidia. It was much more beautiful than this picture can show.

Boys dive and swim in the pools that have been carved out of the rock in front of King Hassan II's Mosque.

King Hassan II's Mosque. This place was huge and the details put into the mosque were amazing.

Oulidia. Isn't this place beautiful!?!
